The Calverley Clinic

Osteopathy

Osteopathy is a hugely popular and effective treatment for medical conditions arising from muscles, joints and the spine using safe pain free hands on treatment and is recognised by the British Medical Association as a discrete clinical discipline.

"Although my MRI scan demonstrated a herniated intervertebral disc as the most probable cause of my lower back pain, the Orthopaedic surgeon did not recommend an operation.  Instead I underwent a course of osteopathic and acupuncture treatment at the Calverley Clinic.  My pain levels greatly diminished, allowing me a greater choice of activities in my daily life."

~ Tom, Calverley

The Osteopaths at the Calverley Clinic spend most of their clinical time dealing with patients in pain. Their role is to alleviate that pain, to improve mobility and posture, and to make patients' lives more comfortable.

"My new born baby, Sion, had been in considerable pain with colic as was evident by his intense crying!  Using the very gentle techniques of cranial osteopathy Sion's pains soon subsided and he began sleeping for longer periods at night.  Thank you."

~ Margaret, Farsley

Cranial osteopathy can help a wide variety of conditions in infants and young children, for example:

Digestive problems like colic and feeding difficulties as a result of changed mechanical stresses.

Sickness and wind problems as a possible result of stomach and diaphragm pressure changes.

Screaming, crying, irritability and hyperactivity due to possible uncomfortable head pressure.

Sleep disturbances as a result of increased irritability in the nervous system.

Is it safe?

You may have worries and concerns about babies or young children being treated by osteopaths, but you can be reassured; cranial osteopathy uses a very gentle and safe approach. The treatment is used to assist what already exists in the body, helping to release the changed stresses and tension build up. As the treatment has a generally cumulative effect, a series of sessions may be of increasing benefit. Very occasionally some children may show increased restlessness following treatment, for up to 48 hours; this then settles spontaneously.

"Getting pregnant after some four years trying was a cause for celebration!  As my due date approached my lower back and symphysis pubis began to give me intermittent pain.  Trusting someone to relieve that pain was a considered decision, but I could not have been happier with the caring approach and medical thoroughness afforded me at the Calverley Clinic.  My pain near went completely making my final months of pregnancy more bearable."
